KL. 11.15: ARTIST TALK – Maria Sparre-Petersen, glaskunstner og Ph.D, Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademis Skoler
for Arkitektur, Design og Konservering (DK)
In this presentation issues regarding sustainable innovation in glass craft and design will be addressed. This subject matter has been the focus of Maria Sparre-Petersen’s research during a four year Ph.D. project at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Design. The project has been completed to contribute to sustainable development while considering practitioners’ demands for aesthetic autonomy in their creative practices, as well as to produce knowledge that can accommodate a closer link between the theoretical and practical aspects of sustainable development within glass craft and design. The central issues in the research are if and how introduction of sustainable principles in creative processes may influence expansion of aesthetic spaces of opportunity, and how glass craft and design may contribute to sustainable development.
KL. 12.30: PERFORMANCE – Kärlis Bogustovs, glaskunstner (Letland)
A performance involving glass stacking and skateboarding.
The performance will take place in front of the museum.

The result is a modular system in which he compares different types of glass with a specific mould building for kiln casting based on recycling materials. He will focus on the at Young Glass 2017 exhibited sculpture of a “sheepskin”, which combines this research with the use of recycled glass as a sculptural casting material and show the possibilities for larger scale kiln casts.
