CREATIVE AND SKILLED GLASS MAKERS FOR THE MUSEUM’S GLASS STUDIO

We are looking for a Studio Manager/Gaffer and a Glass Assistant. Candi­dates may apply for the jobs individu­ally, but the jobs would also be suitable for two people to share.

Job description
The Studio Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the studio and is to ensure that museum visitors experience a professionally run and modern glass studio.

You will undertake glassmaking production and demonstrations and the development and implementation of activities for and with our visitors.

You will also be required to develop and produce products that can be sold to our visitors and sponsors. It will additionally be possible for you to make use of the studio to develop your own unique pieces and experiment with different techniques.

The Glass Assistant will be employed to assist the Studio Manager with these tasks. Working hours will include week-ends and bank holidays also.

Role profile
We expect our new studio staff to have specialist knowl­edge and experience of glass making techniques, preferably with training from a glass school or glass studio, and with an ambition to run their “own” studio.

You are creative, have a positive attitude and enjoy talking in front of a crowd, performing demos and explaining the process to museum visitors while you work. In addi­tion to being skilled craftsmen, mastering various techniques, you must also be able to develop and produce new designs for the museum shop.

We offer
Full-time employment from 1st March until 31st October. Salary according to expe­rience and qualifications. The possibility to make use of modern studio facilities to further your own practice.

Glasmuseet Ebeltoft is a private, self-financing institution established and directed by the Foundation for the Collection of Contemporary, International Glass Art. The museum presents the best in contemporary, international glass art through an ambitious exhibi­tion programme and has a unique collection of glass art from around the world.

Rebecca Matthews, former director of European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017, takes over as new director of the museum on 1st May. Glasmuseet Ebeltoft was inaugurated in 1986 and is considered one of the world leaders in its field. It is under patronage of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.
