FOUR ROOMS – ZUZANA KUBELKOVÁ
12.10. 2019 – 05.01. 2020
From 12th October:
Solo exhibition with works by Zuzana Kubelková, CZ
Meet Zuzana Kubelková in the exhibition on Saturday 12th at 10.00am for a conversation about her work.
Characterized by an untraditional approach to materials and methods Czech artist Zuzana Kubelková has gained a significant position on both the Czech glass and international glass scene. Winning the major prize in the Young Glass 2017 competition in Ebeltoft has contributed to this.
In her exhibition Four Rooms, Kubelková presents a series of works in four different rooms. Among the works is a series of experiments with fibreglass; a material, which the artist has been exploring over a longer period of time. She has tested several types of industrial textiles and has recently experimented with fire resistant textiles, which she melts and shapes into fragile compositions. Zuzana Kubelková methodically explores materials and techniques in an ongoing attempt to add life and nuances to industrially produced materials.
Zuzana Kubelková grew up in Smiradice near Strakonice in the Czech Republic, where she currently lives and works. She was educated at the High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Zelezný Brod (Atelier of Modelling of pressed glass, 2002-2006), and J. E. Purkyne Univerity in Ústí nad Labem, Faculty of Art and Design (2006-2014).
The exhibition has been supported by:
